This story
began a long time ago on a warm December 23rd 1968, at “EL PALOMAR”
Argentine Air Force Base. The first tail numbers were TC-61,TC-62 and TC-63 all
of them where C-130H models. It was a new beginning for Argentina´s Air Force
(AAF). We changed from C-47 and vintage DC-4´s to the Herk.
The tail
numbers described the plane´s mission TC “Tansporte y Carga” (passenger and
cargo). History was saving a place of honor for TC-62 and TC-63. The remaining
plane, TC-61 is still operational, and was displayed at this year 50 year
anniversary C-130 HERCULES celebration at “EL PALOMAR”, on December 14th
2018. The first
original crews were invited; there was an atmosphere of friendship and
camaraderie that is a trademark of this kind of events.
Lockheed
Martin company´s representatives were present at this significant event. Only
two countries brought their own planes. The GEORGIA ANG brought a C130 and the
German Luftwaffe brought a brand new AIRBUS A400M. At the celebrations were
also present French and Brazilian C-130 crews.
One of the
awards presented to the 1st Squadron (C-130) by Lockheed Martin was
a certificate for 50 continuous years of operational safety. The reliable C-130
shows the world that there´s a lot to do and achieve more wonderful feats.
This
celebration is dedicated to those men and women who show dedication and
commitment to excellence. It was a clear statement that showed how teamwork
achieves greatness.
GRACIAS HERCULES!!!
